Scappoose Sprouts Learning Garden
GWPO is breaking ground in spring 2021 to bring an incredible vision to life for a community garden at Grant Watts Elementary. Answering the needs of the city of Scappoose, the garden has been thoughtfully designed to support both hands-on learning for students as an outdoor classroom, as well as invite the community together to grow a beautiful space to enjoy. It will overwhelm the senses with beautiful trees, flowers, gardens and a variety of seating spaces.
To date, GWPO has created an outdoor classroom in the kindergarten covered wing, complete with learning cabinet filled with supplies and six outdoor rolling tables that are sized for young students.
However, funds are urgently needed to fulfill the heart of our garden with the concrete compass design, raised beds, and gravel walkways to a toolshed.
Scappoose Sprouts Learning Garden Background
At our 2018 Spring Auction, more than 40 guests boldly and generously raised their paddle to offer financial support to build the vision of the Scappoose Sprouts Learning Garden. That night we raised more than $8,300 for this beautiful space.
However, a lot has changed since. Last year, the ownership of the Garden transferred from the Scappoose School District to the Grant Watts Parent Organization, allowing us to take more urgent steps to bring this design to life.
Specifically, we hope to raise the funds needed for our Phase I blueprints, including the estimated elements/costs:
That is why the Wine, Dessert and Blooms Online Auction is so important in making this vision a reality.
